In Drunk Driving Accidents

A drunk driver is one of the most dangerous people on Nashville roads. Drunk drivers are responsible for many deaths every year and have caused immeasurable heartache for local families. When someone decides to drive drunk they are not only breaking the law, but they are risking the lives of everyone they pass and come into contact with. Science has proven that drunk drivers are less likely to control their vehicles in a safe manner and more likely to cause severe car accidents. Even one drink drastically increases the likelihood of a car accident so it is important for Nashville residents to always find a sober ride home.

A recent survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that self-reported drunk driving rates have decreased. Unfortunately the survey indicates that there are still over 300,000 drunk driving incidents every day, which means that drunk driving is still a persistent problem.

The CDC conducted the telephone survey of over 200,000 adults across the country. About 1 in 50 admitting to driving drunk during the month before the survey but some individuals admitted to driving drunk on a daily basis. Young men between the ages of 21 and 34 were the most likely people to drive drunk.

“While the nation has made great strides in reducing drunk driving over the years, it continues to be one of the leading causes of death and injury on America’s roads _ claiming a life every 48 minutes,” said National Highway Traffic Safety Administration head David Strickland.
